NW Ultras Woolley Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, 50k NW Ultras Woolley Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, 50k February 16, 20 Official Race Website: http://www.skagitultrarunners.com/woolley/index.ht The Woolley runs are ran on a "rails to trails" gravel trail from west to east (& back) along side of the Skagit River. The idea to put on this event was hatched during a long Skagit Runners group run in the summer of 2007. It's a spectacular trail, we saw a baby Elk during the run, Llamas, signs of Beaver, Bison, & Deer. This is meant to be a low key fun event. The price is low, the aid stations are stocked, you get a nice lunch and BS session at the finish. It just doesn't get much better than that. We will limit the participants to 150 due to parking availab NV

FIRST CALL MARATHON DATE: January 2, 2012 This is an awesome Marathon with great scenery and fresh air. As well known, this north western state has rainfall which makes for fresh air runing like no where else. The trees and natural terrain will enhance your run. There is also a half-marathon for those who love the run of 13.6 miles. Our Next run will be on MONDAY Jan 2, 2012. Start the new year right with a good run! We've had rain, we've had snow, we've had frozen gatorade. What more could you ask for? If this craziness sounds like your idea of a good time, then join us to kick off the new year. This will be another low key run, along the Sammamish River Trail, just north and east of Seattle. The trail is a paved trail, shared with others, and is mostly flat. (Our biggest hill is the bridge in the picture) The half is an out and back, the whole is a double out and back. There are a couple of public restrooms along the path, and we share the road with other runners, bikes, and occasional small birds and animals. Be prepared to be self sufficient. There are no crowds. There will be water/gatorade along the way. You should run with a bottle, and you can refill at these stops. We'll have food at the start/finish area, which is also the half way stop for the marathon. The 50K has an additional 2.4 mile out and back. You will not receive a T Shirt, but we do have medals! Thanks to Steve Walters who is making those. Registration is open to all runners. There is no cost to run, but donations are appreciated. A special thanks to those who donate, you make these runs possible. You can donate online through pay pal, or at the event. WA

Leavenworth is Washington’s “Bavarian Village” located 2 hours east of the Puget Sound bordering the Wenatchee National Forest and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Oktoberfest is Leavenworth’s biggest festival of the year with 3 weeks of music, parades, food (and of course, beverages) and activities for children and adults. Last Chance Marathon & Half Last Chance Marathon & Half Race Date December 31, 2012 Fairhaven Park in Bellingham, Washington December 31st 2012 8:00 Check in, 9:00 Start OK, here is your Last Chance to run a 1/2 marathon or full marathon in 2011! The 1/2 marathon course is an out and back and the full marathon course is the same out and back course two times, starting at Fairhaven Park Pavillion, running the Interurban trail out to Clayton Beach for the full 13.1 miles or 26.2. Course is subject to change if trail conditions mandate. This trail has spectacular views and very few hills, just enough hills to make it interesting, and break up the flat sections. FYI: We have been known to have SNOW this time of the year so plan accordingly. The majority of this trail is covered with a canopy of trees which deflects some of the rain or snow, but this also means it doesn't heat as fast as an open course would. It can get cold. The majority of the trail is an old railroad bed, very easy to run on gravel surface, with the exception of Arroyos Park. Arroyos Park is a double track trail with a few bridges and a few fun hills. It is a very well maintained set of trails. The bathrooms at Fairhaven Park will be unlocked as well as the warm heated Pavillion. You should plan on being self-sufficient and carrying your own water and aid. There will be an aid station at the turn around which you will access 1 time in the 1/2 marathon and 2 times in the full marathon. We will also have an aid station at the start/finish so full marathoners will have 3 chances to refill their water bottles, about every 6.5 miles. We will have water, an electrolyte drink and other snacks at the aid stations. Usually I put some type of candy like candy corn, gummy bears, bananas, pretzels, typical ultra style foods. You won't go hungry! WA
Birch Bay Marathon & Half Marathon, 10K Birch Bay Marathon & Half Marathon, 10K Marathon Details Race Date February 17, 2013 Birch Bay Marathon & Half Marathon, 10K Birch Bay, WA USA Birch Bay Marathon History In 1968 Jim Freeman, Jim Pearson, and Evan Smith met to form the Snohomish Track Club, an organization which Smith felt should host as Pacific Northwest AAU championships all distances sponsored by the AAU at the national level. Each of the three would personally host one event. Pearson picked the marathon. A Birch Bay resident at the time, he had been lost during the hard-to-follow Victoria marathon, and his friend John Bodoia had been hit by a bus during the Vancouver marathon. With these two things in mind, Pearson decided that a run from the Birch Bay State Park to Bay Center, twice around the Birch Point loop, and then back to the park would be the safest to run and the easiest to follow without getting lost. Since the bath house in the park did not open until April 1, the first weekend in April became race day. With that, the Birch Bay marathon was born. Pearson continued to direct the race through 1991 except for two years during the ‘80s when Dick Henrie and the Greater Bellingham Running Club took over. When a Seattle marathon moved to a spot in April, Pearson moved the race to December, and the race of nearly 200 runners dropped to subsistence level. In 1992 Vancouver, BC’s Karl Jensen took over the race for several years, followed by Dave Dutton of Mount Vernon who put on the race for several years.. The race returned to GBRC command in 2005 with Western Washington University Math Chairman Tjalling Ypma at the helm. He moved the race to February, and the numbers started to increase. Jim’s son Joel Pearson joined Ypma as co-director in 2006 and now directs the race himself. Originally measured twice with a wheel, the course was officially AAU certified before the 1971 race with 290 total yards added to the original course. Though the course has remained basically the same, a road change near Semiahmoo made re-certification necessary before the 2007 race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WA

Dizzy Daze Marathon & Half marathon, 50K, 100K Dizzy Daze Marathon & Half marathon, 50K, 100K Marathon Directory Marathon Details Dizzy Daze Marathon & Half marathon, 50K, 100K Seattle, WA USA March 23, 2013 Results – 2009 Results – 2010 ..About Dizzy Daze By Loopy Loops On November 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment ....All the pain and suffering of an ultra, without the annoying change in scenery! Dizzy Daze 13.1/26.2/50K/100K March 26, 2011 – 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 6:00 a.m. Early Start Dizzy Daze is held at beautiful Green Lake Park in Seattle, Wa. The race uses the outer running loop around the lake. Runners will travel counter-clockwise on the groomed dirt path. The total distance of the loop is approximately 3.2 miles; you will run 4 loops plus a short out & back for the half marathon, 8 loops plus an out & back for the full marathon, 10 loops for the 50K (yes, you’ll run a bonus mile, for which you will not be charged extra) and 19 loops plus an out & back for the 100K. For those with more sense there will be a 13.1-mile and an official 26.2-mile marathon distance (not a certified BQ, sorry). The 13.1 will be Half Fanatics applicable, and the marathon distance will fulfill Marathon Maniacs requirements. The trail is a partially paved, pancake-flat loop, making it a great course for a PR or to attempt a new distance. There will be one fully stocked aid station with all the usual ultra-kibble: water; PowerBar gels, energy blasts and sports drink; electrolyte caps; a selection of sweet and salty snacks and pizza later in the day. Dizzy Daze is the brainchild of Jonathan Bernard, who along with Sam Thompson set out to create Seattle’s hardest and easiest 50K/100K races. The Carkeek 12-Hour is nothing but hills and Dizzy Daze has nothing remotely resembling one. This year Dizzy will be a joint production of a tanned Jonathan (who deserted us for sunnier climes but promises an appearance) and the Two Cats Running crew, also known as Matt and Betsy. There are two major hills and many curves as the course follows the Yakima River downstream on the asphalt surfaced highway.
