November 16, 2014 Frew Lebow Cross Country November 16, 2014 Frew Lebow Cross Country November 16, 2014 Frew Lebow Cross Country

Fred Lebow believed that running is for everyone. A visionary genius, he co-founded the New York City Marathon in 1970 and served as president of NYRR and race director of the marathon for 22 years. Under his leadership, the marathon was transformed from a small race in Central Park to a five-borough extravaganza.

As the trail parallels the Henry Hudson Parkway, make the right turn toward the Back Hills. Make this complete loop, then head back toward The Flats. The trail is mostly downhill and flat. Exit the woods with about three-quarters of a mile to go and continue to the finish along Broadway beyond the Tortoise and Hare statue.

Bib pickup will be at Van Cortlandt Park on race morning only, near the Tortoise and Hare statue at Broadway and 248th Street, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Awards Awards will be available after the race. Official results will be posted online on Monday, November 17.

The Sehgahunda Valley (“Vale of Three Falls”), which encompasses the portion of the Genesee River Valley, was comprised of several villages settled by the Seneca People. The locations of these villages make up the current boundaries of Letchworth State Park. Letchworth State Park spans over 14,000 acres, with miles and miles of trails – all with varying degrees of technicality to challenge both experienced runners and casual hikers. Many of the trails that make up this race are the very trails used by the Seneca Indians to access the Genesee River, which bisects this valley, giving rise to its nickname “The Grand Canyon of the East.” We dare you to experience the beauty, history, and challenge of this unique event!
