We're excited to continue the tradition and allow the airing of grievances by running in our 2nd annual Festivus 5k for the Rest of Us! This year our fun run will be benefitting the UNM Cancer Center. A portion of the proceeds will go to our community partner UNM Cancer Center for cancer research.

This year we will commemorate your participation with an engraved Festivus mug that you can use for your holiday festivities instead of the traditional t-shirt.

The course will be around the Academy Perimeter Loop. The course will be marked as a 5k. We will start in the Hoffmantown Parking lot. This will be a timed event and results will be posted after the race. 1 aid station on course and refreshments at finish line. Prizes will be for top three males and top three females along with 1st place in each age group (10 year increments). Please come out and help us celebrate this Festivus Miracle!

The most scenic, but with some hills, probably the toughest course of the five days. But it has Dinosaur tracks! Showers available at this park. NM

Shiprock Marathon & Half Marathon Shiprock Marathon & Half Marathon Race Date May 4, 2013 Official Race Website: http://www.ShiprockMarathon.com The Shiprock Marathon course is certified by USA Track & Field (#NM04003DS). The Marathon and 4-person coed Marathon Relays begin near Red Valley, less than a mile from the border with Arizona on Route 13. The point-to-point road course passes by the spectacular Shiprock- the core of an ancient volcano- which is visible during most of the Marathon. The Finish Line is in the town of Shiprock. The course has a few hills, mostly long gradual inclines. A Marathon course map with photos at various mile markers is available, as is a detailed altitude graph of the entire course. The Marathon begins at an elevation of almost 6000', peaks at 6070', and finishes at an altitude of 4800'. It is of special note that the final six miles are a gentle downhill grade. Water/energy drink stations will be available every 2 miles. Fruit, snacks, and energy gels will be available at stations throughout the course. The first 20 miles of the Marathon course take place on Route 13. This road will be closed during the events. The Half-Marathon begins at the Shiprock itself - and travels the last half of the Marathon course. AZ
Bataan Memorial Death March Bataan Memorial Death March Bataan Memorial Death March White Sands Missile Range, NM USA March 17,2013 Official Race Website: http://www.bataanmarch.com The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and, in many cases, their very lives. Choose between two routes The GREEN (full) route is the full 26.2-mile Bataan Memorial Death March. Awards are presented to the top two finishers in each category. Those marching the 26.2 miles will be able to experience, in part, what Soldiers endured during their long forced trek through the Philippines. The BLUE (honorary) route is 14.2 miles in length. This shorter march is designed for participants who would like to memorialize Bataan but do not wish to march the full 26.2-mile route. There are NO awards given for this shorter march. NM
