Belford Street Brighton, CO 80601 Phone Number: 303-659-8792 Fax Number: Email: dr_bill_morton@yahoo.com Official Race Website: http://runswithscissorsraces.weebly.com Although you can't really get away from the altitude in Colorado (the park is 5109 feet above sea level), at least you won't have to cope with the big hills found in most Colorado races. We can't say absolutely, but we are pretty sure this is one of the flattest in Colorado. A few short rolling hills, but nothing long or steep. We always hear Race Directors claiming their race is "flat and fast". We can only say this course of mostly flat, the fast depends upon you! CO

MXterra Trail arathon, Half Marathon &5K MXterra Trail arathon, Half Marathon &5K of trails scattered among its nearly 1,700 acres less than a half hour's drive south from downtown Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Mountain State Park offers a backcountry getaway that's not far at all from the city for the Run MXterra Trail arathon, Half Marathon & 5K, part of the nationwide Xterra running series that hosts trail running events throughout the year. Just over 270 runners crossed the finish line at the Colorado Springs event in 2011, with 195 finishers in the half marathon alone, for a race that unfolds along an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Day Use Trailhead inside the park, just off Highway 115 and JL Ranch Heights Road. From there, runners start what can be roughly described as a loop course through the park, with one loop around the course for those running the half marathon and two loops for those running the full's 26.2 miles. Most of the trails along the race route are wide, well-groomed dirt trails, with plenty of switchbacks, twists and turns through the park's many hills. For the half marathon, the course elevation rises some 400 feet between the first mile marker and the mile 4 marker, a gradual uphill that's followed by an equally gradual downhill over the next four and a half miles. The course begins rising again around the mile 9 marker, just over 200 feet by the time runners reach the mile 11 marker, and then heads downhill in to the finish line back at the trail head CO
