Kids complete 25.2 miles prior to race day using the Little Rockers Kids Marathon Training Program. Participants have several months to complete the miles on their own or through their school (if their school is officially participating in the program) by running, jogging or walking. On March 4, 2017, all participants finish their marathon as they run the last mile of the actual course and cross the official Little Rock Marathon finish line. The mission of the Little Rockers Kids Marathon is to provide participants ages 7-12 with the opportunity to enhance their physical activity while focusing on reaching a goal. We hope to motivate children to commit to a health and fitness routine and experience the overall rewards of achieving their goals, not only in crossing the finish line but in life as well. The fun really begins when you hit what the locals call, "Bay Road!" Hwy 163 is designated as part of the Arkansas Heritage Civil War Trail and Crowley's Ridge Scenic Byway. This is a USATF certified marathon, out and back course. Aid stations are placed approximately every mile, and port-o- potties will be located every couple of miles or so! Each aid station will be supplied with Vaseline, Gatorade, Fruit, Salt, and various Snickety Snacks! Shirts, goody bags, and finisher’s medals will be given to all participants! AR

The intent of the corral start is to ensure a positive race experience and provide all participants the same opportunity for a quick, smooth and safe start with sufficient room to move along the course. This is actually > 100 year old horse postal trail. After running this, you will wish you had a horse! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The course is an out and back course. You first run almost 3 miles on roads - paved and gravel up to the start of the trail. Then you enter the Athens-Big Fork Trail - White Blazes. Follow the trail over 8 mountains. The 8 mountain crossings on the trail are: 1.Missouri 2.Hurricane Knob 3.McKinley 4.Brier Creek 5.Leader 6.Brushheap 7.Brushy 8.Big Tom You pop out of the trail and need to go about a half mile down the gravel road to get your full 13.1. White River Marathon for Kanya White River Marathon for Kanya Date: November 17, 2012 Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about the 2012 White River Marathon. What city should I fly into? Check with the airports at Branson, Mo and Little Rock Ar and Springfield Mo. Branson is 1 and ½ hrs away, Little Rock is 3hrs15 min. away and Springfield is 2 hrs away. When is the start? 7 am. Is this the same course as last year? YES! The finish line is approximately 1 mile from the start. Shuttles will take runners, friends & family to and from the finish line back to Cotter School during the race. Is this the first time for this marathon? No. This is our 9th marathon. How many runners do we expect? 500 Is there a time limit? We have a 7 hr. time limit. What time will online registration close? It closes at 12 pm Nov. 13, 2012. Please have your mail in registrations post-marked by Nov. 12. How will aid stations be spaced? Approx. every mile. What will aid stations provide? They will be stocked with Gatorade, GU gels, fruit , pretzels and of course Water. How often will there be Port-a-johns? Approximately every 2 miles along the course, and there are restrooms located at Cotter School at the start and also at the finish along the river next to Denton Ferry RV Park. Where is packet pickup and registration ? You can pick up your packet as well as register at the Cotter School in Cotter, AR Friday Nov. 16th at 5 -7pm. The weather for this time of the year is very unpredictable. Typically the start is in the 30’s and warms to the 50’s What is the course like? It is flat and runs along the scenic White River with bluffs on one side of the road. Very beautiful course and yes, it’s FLAT!The only change in this years course from last year, is that the start is at Cotter School and down the hill to the course along the river. It will be the SAME flat course and will finish at the same spot along the river. The finish line is approximately 1 mile from the start. Shuttles will take runners, friends & family to and from the finish line back to Cotter School during the race. Is this race a Boston Marathon Qualifier? Yes. The Marathon and Half Marathon and 5K will all be USATF certified. (See Certification Numbers on Course Maps and Info Page) Are walkers welcome? We welcome all walkers. We do ask that they position themselves behind the runners at the start. What about medals? All half and full marathon finishers will receive a finishers medal. Can I pick up my packet on Saturday morning before the race? Yes, packet pick up on Saturday will be from 5:00-6:15am. * Enter by October 17th, 2012 to guarantee shirt size on race day! All races begin at Cotter School. This is one of the FLATTEST and FASTEST courses in the US!! If your goal is to PR or qualify for Boston, this race is the place to do it!
