DATE: JANUARY 1, 2012 ARE YOU READY FOR A FANTASTIC TRAIL COURSE! Expect a true wilderness experience in the deep forests of the Bronx. The trails are all well maintained. Little technical trail conditions should be expected. The trails are a mix of packed dirt, small granular rock, and crushed soft leaf surfaces. There are long flat sections, and short challenging climbs and descents. Current trail conditions are exceptional, the trails are well maintained with fantastic fall foliage leaves to trample underfoot. Note: In case of extreme weather (snow, freezing rain, very cold temps/rain we may cancel the race). The course will be marked well with white flour powder, orange ribbons, and directional signs. We will also have mile marker signs at various points along the course. Here is the loop for all races: 10Km The race loop is actually 6.56 miles long, so this is a slightly long 10km loop. Record your name and finishing time in our record books located at the start/finish. When you finish the race make sure you take your New Years Disco Ball! 1/2 Marathon The half marathon is 2 full loops. Record your name and finish time in our record books. When you finish the race make sure you take your New Years Disco Ball! Marathon Relay The relay can be a team of 2 runers doing 2 loops each or 4 runners doing one loop each. Record your team results in log book and collect your New Years Disco Ball! Marathon! This is the only TRAIL marathon in New York City! The 4 loop course covers all areas of Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. This will be an epic urban forest adventure! Marathon runners should record their name and finishing time in our Marathon book at the start/finish area. Be sure to take your New Years Disco ball! Why not raise it another level and have a 50K? I am sure many ultra runners would love to have this as an option. I know I would!!! Would it be a possibility?
