White River Marathon for KanyaWhite River Marathon for Kanya Date: November 17, 2012 Here are answers to the most commonly asked questions about the 2012 White River Marathon. What city should I fly into? Check with the airports at Branson, Mo and Little Rock Ar and Springfield Mo. Branson is 1 and ½ hrs away, Little Rock is 3hrs15 min. away and Springfield is 2 hrs away. When is the start? 7 am. Is this the same course as last year? YES! The finish line is approximately 1 mile from the start. Shuttles will take runners, friends & family to and from the finish line back to Cotter School during the race. Is this the first time for this marathon? No. This is our 9th marathon. How many runners do we expect? 500 Is there a time limit? We have a 7 hr. time limit. What time will online registration close? It closes at 12 pm Nov. 13, 2012. Please have your mail in registrations post-marked by Nov. 12. How will aid stations be spaced? Approx. every mile. What will aid stations provide? They will be stocked with Gatorade, GU gels, fruit , pretzels and of course Water. How often will there be Port-a-johns? Approximately every 2 miles along the course, and there are restrooms located at Cotter School at the start and also at the finish along the river next to Denton Ferry RV Park. Where is packet pickup and registration ? You can pick up your packet as well as register at the Cotter School in Cotter, AR Friday Nov. 16th at 5 -7pm. ALSO you can pickup your packet and register on Nov. 17th (Race morning) at the Cotter School between 5 and 6:15 a.m. Where do I park ? Cotter School What about post-race meal? We will be serving a pot-luck meal for all runners and their families at 10 a.m at theCotter School. What sort of weather for this time of year? The weather for this time of the year is very unpredictable. Typically the start is in the 30’s and warms to the 50’s What is the course like? It is flat and runs along the scenic White River with bluffs on one side of the road. Very beautiful course and yes, it’s FLAT!The only change in this years course from last year, is that the start is at Cotter School and down the hill to the course along the river. It will be the SAME flat course and will finish at the same spot along the river. The finish line is approximately 1 mile from the start. Shuttles will take runners, friends & family to and from the finish line back to Cotter School during the race. Is this race a Boston Marathon Qualifier? Yes. The Marathon and Half Marathon and 5K will all be USATF certified. (See Certification Numbers on Course Maps and Info Page) Are walkers welcome? We welcome all walkers. We do ask that they position themselves behind the runners at the start. What about medals? All half and full marathon finishers will receive a finishers medal. Can I pick up my packet on Saturday morning before the race? Yes, packet pick up on Saturday will be from 5:00-6:15am. * Enter by October 17th, 2012 to guarantee shirt size on race day! All races begin at Cotter School. This is one of the FLATTEST and FASTEST courses in the US!! If your goal is to PR or qualify for Boston, this race is the place to do it! Course runs along the World Famous White River with scenic views and aid stations every mile providing Powerade, water, pretzels, fruit & Hammergel. Port-ajohns every 2 miles. *Shuttle bus will return runners back to the school as races are completed. Shuttle is also for friends & family members too. 5K & Half Marathon races are out and back. Created for those who think a little differently about this runnin' stuff. The Mud Run is definitely NOT your average 5K. The Mud Run is for the adventuresome spirit and is a family friendly race. Participants run, walk, skip, trot and even cavort through our 5K(ish - please refer to helpful hints section of the website for the clarification of "ish") course, which winds through a scenic Little Rock Park. Participants must overcome an "obstacle" or two along the way. Bizz Johnson Trail Marathon and Half &amp;5KBizz Johnson Trail Marathon and Half &5K Race Date October 7,2012 The Bizz Johnson Trail begins at Mason Station and travels through scenic Lassen National Forest. The first few miles of the course climb 280 feet through the forest to Westwood Junction, then it’s downhill to the finish at Susanville, with a 1300-foot descent over the final 20 miles. The trail follows the route of the old Fernley and Lassen Branch Line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, built in 1914. Roughly two-thirds of the way through the race, the trail enters the Susan River Canyon. Here, you’ll pass orange cliffs and cross the river ten times on picturesque wooden railroad bridges. About four miles from the finish, you’ll pass through two old railroad tunnels, 800 feet and 450 feet in length. Although many runners set PRs and qualify for the Boston Marathon, please note that the course is at altitude (4,200' - 5,600'). There are two different half marathon races. The Express Half Marathon on Saturday does the second half of the full marathon. You will be bused to a remote start. The Half Marathon (& 10 Km) on Sunday starts in Susanville and goes out and back using only the last quarter of the full marathon route. USAT&F certified full marathon course (CA07037RS) CA

The "Powerhouse" fire that ripped through the Palmdale/Lake Hughes area torched every mile of the Leona Valley Trail Races as well as the Leona Divide 50/50 course. The highest point in the race is less than 100 feet in elevation with no real hills and we finish at the beach. Our course runs from the Ventura Pier to the Port Hueneme Pier and back. Pier Into The Future Logo Since it's original construction in 1872, the Ventura Pier has stood as a symbol of the region's rich history and natural resources. Today the Pier is a favorite attraction for fishing, picnics, sunset strolls and beautiful views of Ventura Country's coastline and the Channel Islands. Community leaders established Pier into the Future, a non-profit, to establish a $1 million endowment fund to preserve and enhance this treasured resource for future generations to enjoy. Since reaching their goal in 2007, Pier into the Future has provided over $500,000 to the City of Ventura to fund Pier repairs and enhancements. Blue Sky MarathonBlue Sky Marathon Race Date October 7,2012 There will not be a Half Marathon race in 2012. The Blue Sky Marathon trail race will start and finish at the Blue Sky Trailhead in the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space near Fort Collins, CO. The route will run between Horsetooth Mountain Park and the Devil’s Backbone Open Space. The majority of the trail is single track with a variety of terrain ranging from smooth dirt paths to very technical rocky sections.
